VBCA members, supporters and cricketing enthusiasts,

It is with great pleasure that we once again broadcast the VBCA Grand Final for the second year in a row, and I’m so excited to be involved in this wonderful project.

It’s shaping up for two excellent days of cricketing action on the field between two very evenly matched sides on the field, as well as thirty plus degrees weatherwise. What could be better, great cricket action and glorious Melbourne weather. Bring it on Kooyong!

I’m really looking forward to bringing this magnificent event to you all online, and this year promises to be bigger and better than last year. All I can say is that it’s going to be worth your while listening to the broadcast, and I promise that the professionalism and the dedication to detail by those on the panel this weekend, as well as the glorious special effects coming at you from our strategically placed microphone and both umpires being miked up and brought live to air in the background will have you on your seats, hopefully enthralled by what promises to be a wonderful grand Final.

I hope to see you all there throughout the weekend, and if you can’t make it for whatever reason, please keep us company and text into us on 0412 128 429 or, if your overseas, text +61 412 128 429, or you can email in at marco.curr@gmail.com and we’ll endeavour to read out as many of your comments on air as we can get too. See you all online from 9:30 onwards Saturday morning eastern daylight savings time.

Grand Final race enters final stretch

Posted by secretary on Monday 11 February, 2013 11:11 pm

We're all too familiar with the smorgasbord of stats that accompanies television broadcasting of cricket these days.  Okay, so we may not have access to the whiz-bang graphics that the scientists at the Channel 9 Wide World of Sports team have dreamt up but we can still manage some statistical wizardry complete with Atari-like graphics to perform our own autopsy of the game.

GraphWhen Rod mentioned to me on Saturday that the St. Paul's v Institute game was close he wasn't joking... infact Institute's 1st innings total is tracking almost exactly the same as what St. Paul's was after 21 overs. View Stats.

I'm a big fan of stats and they can provide an interesting insight into the game but stripped back cricket is still a game played with a bat, a ball and three sticks and a game which can turn in the blink of an eye.  Good luck to all teams as we enter the race to the finals.

Anyway, enough from me must get back to working on my 'wagon wheel'cricket chart...!

Australia Day BBQ

Saturday 26th January, 2013

Posted by secretary on Sunday 20 January, 2013 10:48 pm

Is there anything better than a relaxed barbie on an awesome day? Not much comes close but especially when it involves lamb chops and pavlova on Australia Day.

BBQ LambCome and join us on Saturday evening for Australia Day as we fire up the BBQ, slip off the thongs, slip on some sunscreen and tuck into a beautiful BBQ meal followed with pavlova for dessert.  Cost is $10.00 a head with drinks at regular bar prices.

We hope to see you there!
