VBCA Newsletter - September 2007
With less than two weeks to go until the commencement of our season, I thought it appropriate to remind you of some things that are happening around the V.B.C.A.
Firstly, our season opening function will be held post game on Saturday 6th October 2007 with a spit roast meal, and the public announcement of the Victorian squad for the upcoming 29th National Blind Cricket Championships.
The cost will be $15.00 per head for the meal, and children under 12 free.
Victoria as you know are hosting the Championships this year, and it is hoped that all members, past and present will get behind the V.B.C.A. and the squad with fundraising, social nights and the like.
Please notify Nick Pepper via email post or phone if you are intending to attend the opening night function for catering purposes. This only applies if you haven’t already done so.
The Championships commence with a welcome function on December 28th commencing at 7.00pm at the pavilion.
Although nothing has been confirmed yet, it is hoped that we will have a guest on the night.
This year marks the 85th year of blind cricket in Victoria, and the 20th anniversary of the opening of the pavilion.
If you have any ideas on how we could go about celebrating these two events, please contact us and give us your suggestions.
We plan to celebrate the anniversary of the pavilion on Saturday 26th January, 2008, but as yet, no plans have been made on how this will be done.
Nick has organized some polo fleece vests in various sizes and these can be purchased for $35.00 each, either at the pavilion, or via the website merchandising section.
Please note there will be no bar tabs this season, however, a credit can be established and used during the course of each week.
The next V.B.C.A. board meeting will be held at 10.00am on Saturday 13th October, 2007 at the Charlie Bradley Pavilion.
It is hoped that one of the items to be settled on will be the 2007-08 presentation night venue, cost etc. and members will be notified as quickly as possible to enable those who might like to attend the opportunity to purchase tickets over the course of the season where the outlay might be difficult in one payment.
We hope this will increase support for presentation night as it is your night. And with lower numbers attending it is becoming increasingly difficult to find a venue.
See you all on the 6th of October.
